Can't Have Me Down

Poem: Can't HAVe me DOWn Friday, July 29, 2005

You do nothing for me anymore
Guess I should’ve known
There’s only up to go
Grab my Disney stock and run

You may have a guitar
But I play in the band
You may make it big
But I don’t want to hold your hand

Your working toward a degree
Even if it takes a year or two
But I’ve got you beat
Already have two

A little older
A whole lot more mature
Don’t know what you wanted
But this hearts pure

The world is a competition
Lets face it... Capitalism
Got a full time job
While you lounge
Scrounge up the cash for 1 big Mac
You do ahead and borrow
Sure it feels fine
Some day I’ll own you

Spawn of what I know
From all that I don’t know
Years sure make a difference
If this is what I know

I see that I had purpose
I know that you have none
Can’t have me down to what you are
Can’t have me down not that far
